Valerie Lamirande, the founder/CEO, was born and raised on Haida Gwaii, a remote group of islands off the north coast of BC. As a Haida woman, Lamirande belongs to the Raven Clan of Skedans and her given Haida name is Slin_ga a Jaad, which means “Creative Girl” – and her life experience has certainly lived up to it. Previously, she worked full time in a corporate job as an executive assistant and events coordinator, and she dabbled in soap making as a hobby. Valerie now runs a successful soap and candle shop as well as an online shop and is constantly adding to her luxury line of bath and beauty products. RavenSong is an award-winning soap company with the most recent being “Best in Show” at the International Soap Making Conference in Las Vegas and has caught the attention of Kevin Harrington of Shark Tank and As Seen on TV.
