Colton Charley is the son of Thomas Charley, a renowned Navajo silversmith from New Mexico. Colton began learning the art of silversmithing from his father as a child. As the years progressed, Colton decided he wanted to forge his own career path, working for a time in retail then construction. Eventually, he returned to his family’s tradition of silver jewelry making, which is how he earns his living today. “I decided that its something I know and something I enjoy doing [. . .] I hope one of these days to pass this art[form] down to my own kids and keep the tradition alive.”
