Prairie Sagebrush or Artemisia Ludoviciana grows where the artist grew up and is one of her favorite plants to see on walks. This archival art print reproduces Carolyn’s luminescent, colored-pencil drawing. In Diné bizaad (the Navajo language), sagebrush is called Ts’oh — a different variety grows throughout the Navajo Nation, Artemisia Tridentata, and several other varieties are used medicinally and ceremonially in tribes throughout North America. Some traditionalists warn against monetizing sagebrush, saying it should only be grown, collected wild, or gifted but never sold.
